Who does not experience stress? These days even 3rd graders studying for
exams feel a lot of pressure. Though the level of stress may vary, no
one is really free from it. You can, however, find ways to reduce it. Check Out these
10 ways to manage stress :
1. Try doing one thing at a time.
It is better to do one task at a time. Not only will you focus on it
better and deliver great results, you will feel more relaxed, too. Start
small. For example, do not use your mobile phone while typing on the
computer.

Ever find that you are always rushing? Feeling short of time also
causes undue stress. Find time to sit and jot down how much time you
take for each of your daily activities. Seeing it on paper may help you
fix your timings.
3. Avoid predictably stressful situations.
If playing poker with your buddies worries you, skip it. Just sit
back and watch instead, stress-free. You will still bond with your
friends without straining yourself.
4. Take a time-out.
Though it is normally a punishment for children, sometimes having
alone time is just what you need. Do something that relaxes you, like
catch up on your favorite show or listen to some soothing music.
5. Do not engage in unhealthy competition.
There are parts of life that require competition (like in business or
at work), but the “I-have-more-than-you” competition is not one of
them. If you have a friend who’s goal is to make you jealous, try not to
engage. It is easier said than done (especially when your friend is
being a prick), but in the long-term it rids you of unnecessary tension.

6. Relax Your Mind with Yoga.
Is stress wearing you down? Are your muscles tense and your posture less
than perfect? Bringing yoga, a touch of Eastern culture, into your
Western lifestyle may be the perfect answer to help you unwind both your
body and mind.
7. Eliminate as many sources of stress as possible.
If you are claustrophobic, for example, do not visit tiny, crowded
stores. Triggering your phobias can cause a lot of anxiety. Try to avoid
the triggers.
8. Sometimes, do nothing.

Our minds tend to work all the time. Give your mind (and body) a
break once in awhile and do nothing. You will be surprised how
energizing this is.
9. If you suffer from chronic ailments, see if it is due to stress.
Stress can sometimes lead to insomnia, headaches or even chronic
colds. Think about what is causing it. Maybe you are often angry or
irritated. If so, try to find ways to help your mood.
10. If you feel stress is taking over your life, see a doctor or therapist.
There is no shame in asking for help. There have been cases of
excessive stress leading to depression and even suicide. Make sure you
take control of the problem before it gets worse.
Remember, avoid unnecessary stress, plan ahead and make sure to
relax. Oftentimes, we put ourselves in situations that needlessly
pressure us. Knowing what sets you off and finding ways around them help
manage stress.
